The Milwaukee Bucks are anxiously waiting for the return of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who suffered a sprained ligament in his right wrist during a game against the Chicago Bulls. He is expected to miss some time after the All-Star break, but the injury is not severe enough to require surgery. The team’s performance without him has been mixed, as they have won six and lost five of the games he missed.
“It was a 48 hours of worry over the weekend for the Bucks. The initial imaging that they got back was a little bit inconclusive, and so Giannis went through the weekend at All-Star Weekend,” Brian Windhorst said. “We had to captain one of the teams, and he only played 20 seconds on Sunday night because he needed to protect that wrist in some area.”
On Monday Adrian Wojnarowski reported, “Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a sprained ligament in his right wrist and will undergo treatment with the expectation that he’ll be able to return to the lineup once the pain subsides, sources tell ESPN. He was examined in New York today.”
The Bucks’ success in the playoffs will depend on whether they can keep their big three of Antetokounmpo, Chris Middleton, and Drew Holiday healthy.
