On Wednesday, Netflix made known its inaugural collaboration with the NFL by introducing “Quarterback,” a fresh docu-series that presents a distinct perspective of each season, narrated through the viewpoint of NFL quarterbacks.
The season will showcase exclusive and unparalleled admittance to Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota from the inception of the 2022 season until its culmination, monitoring their activities both on and off the field, encompassing everything from interactions with their teammates in the huddle to their domestic life with their loved ones.
The show will make its debut in the summer of 2023.
Unprecedentedly, the NFL permitted quarterbacks to wear microphones during every game of a season. The upcoming program will showcase exclusive footage of some of the most significant moments of the season, including Mahomes’ achievement of an NFL record for total offense and winning both the league and Super Bowl MVP awards.
Additionally, it will feature Cousins, who orchestrated the most substantial comeback in NFL history and led the Minnesota Vikings to an NFC North Division championship, and Mariota, who took on the role of starting quarterback during his inaugural season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Netflix Tweeted out: “Announcing Quarterback, a docu-series following the 2022 NFL season through the eyes of KirkCousins, Marcus Mariota, and MVP and Super Bowl champ PatrickMahomes! Unprecedented access and for the first time ever players are mic’d up for every game! Premieres this summer.”

Patrick Mahomes said, “I’m excited for fans to get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at an unforgettable season for the entire Chiefs organization and for my family. From welcoming home a new baby in the middle of the season to welcoming the Lombardi trophy back to Kansas City, our crew was there for it all.”
“This new Netflix series will show the time, preparation and balance that it takes to be an NFL quarterback and perform on the biggest stage.”
The show will compete against the likes of HBO’s Hard Knocks and Amazon’s “All or Nothing” that have given fans an inside look at the life of NFL players.
Retired Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning talked about the new series. “Playing quarterback in the NFL is a unique experience that has some pretty incredible ups and downs. Thanks to this collaboration with our partners at NFL Films, 2PM Productions and Netflix, fans will be given a unique and intimate look at what life is like as a starting QB.”
Earlier in 2023, Netflix released a similar show “Full Swing.” In the immersive documentary series, viewers are taken on and off the course to follow a diverse group of professional golfers as they navigate a relentless season of competition.
The new Netflix series will look to compete against “Hard Knocks” and “All or Nothing.” Both are television series produced by NFL Films that provide an inside look at NFL teams and their players during the preseason and regular season.
“Hard Knocks” is an HBO series that has been on the air since 2001. It follows one NFL team each year during their training camp, giving viewers an inside look at the team’s preparation for the upcoming season. The series includes interviews with coaches, players, and team personnel, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of practices, meetings, and team activities.
“All or Nothing” is a similar series produced by NFL Films and available on Amazon Prime Video. It follows one NFL team through an entire season, from training camp to the playoffs. The series offers a more comprehensive look at the team’s journey through the season, including interviews with players and coaches, game highlights, and behind-the-scenes footage of team meetings, practices, and travel.
Both series provide a unique and fascinating look at the world of professional football, and offer fans an opportunity to get an inside look at their favorite teams and players.
